Arbutus Greenway Evaluation

Arbutus Greenway Evaluation

The Arbutus Greenway Evaluation (AGE) is a multi-year (2017-2020) study to characterize the social and health impacts of the Arbutus Greenway Development. AGE has multiple study arms, each with a different focus:

  • Arm 1: all users
  • Arm 2: children and youth
  • Arm 3: adults aged 60+ years (both users and non-users of the Greenway) that live within 4-5 blocks of the Greenway.

Depending on the study arm, we may use visual counts, surveys, activity monitoring devices, small-group and one-on-one interviews for data collection. We aim to assess the: who, what, when, where, why, or why not to explain what’s happening on the Greenway and in its surrounding neighbourhoods. We are curious to learn if and how the Greenway matters for peoples’ health and social interactions.

The Arbutus Greenway is a 9 km multi-modal active transportation corridor currently undergoing phased development. It is set for completion in 2020. AART collected baseline data in spring 2017. Our next round of data collection is scheduled for spring 2018.

If you, or someone you know wants to learn more about participating in Time 2 of data collection (spring 2018) please contact:
