Postdoctoral fellow Christine Voss and PhD student Leigh Gabel from the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility (CHHM) participated in the community outreach event and led an interactive dialogue on the topic of health promotion in youth at Science World for the UBC Celebrate Research Week 2012.
The Centre for Hip Health and Mobility is focused on Mobility! We are a key hub in the ACSM’s Exercise is Medicine program as well as the BJSM’s initiative aimed at increasing clinicians’ prescription of exercise.
An interactive day of presentations and dialogue where civic planners, engineers, elected officials, provincial government and community organization representatives, researchers and seniors themselves shared perspectives and examined successful initiatives that positively impact the mobility and health of older adults.
Mobility is broadly defined as the physical capacity of individuals to move themselves and ranges from physical activity during the growing years to undertaking activities of daily living in later life.
