Dr. Rizhi Wang was elected as the President for the
Canadian Biomaterials Society (CBS) for the 2012-2013 year. He will serve as President-Elect for 2011-2012.
Dr. Wang has served for the last two terms on the CBS Board of Directors and was an integral part of a successful 29th Canadian Biomaterials Society conference hosted here in Vancouver this past June.
The focus for Dr. Wang’s term as president will be to work with CBS members to foster research excellence, strengthen interactions with the medical community and biomedical industries, and facilitate students’ involvement.
Dr. Wang is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Engineering at UBC and a Canada Research Chair in Biomaterials. His research interests are biomaterials, orthopaedic implants, and bone and hip fracture.
The CBS is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization that promotes the development of biomaterials science, technology and education in Canadian universities, industry and government.
