CHHM Poster Making Workshop
The CHHM Trainee Committee organized the Introductory Level Poster Making Workshop in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI).
After the amazing success of the Third Annual Centre for Hip Health and Mobility (CHHM) Trainee Poster Day in April, the CHHM Trainee Committee organized the Introductory Level Poster Making Workshop in collaboration with the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI). At the CHHM Trainee Poster Day, faculty members and trainees have identified the need to improve poster making skills and this workshop provided an excellent opportunity for hands-on training. The Poster Making Workshop took place on August 19, 2010 in the Centennial Pavilion at the Vancouver General Hospital (VGH).
This 3-hour workshop was directed by Patricia Tait, Manager, HR, Policy and Planning at VCHRI. She led the participants through various steps involved in making a successful poster for presentation. Attendees learnt the importance of the main message in the posters and the different ways to highlight and present the information. Attendees were also shown various examples of effective posters from different disciplines. At the end of the workshop there was time for attendees to work on their own posters with guidance provided by Patricia. Attendees at this workshop included trainees from the Centre for Hip Health and Mobility, Vancouver General Hospital, Arthritis Research Centre of Canada, and BC Children’s Hospital. CHHM trainees commented that the workshop provided great opportunities to share new ideas and to discuss their presentation skills on research.
