Dr. Edward J Harvey lectures at CHHM
CHHM hosted the annual Meek Visiting Professor Lecture in the CFI-funded i2i Lab (Innovation to Implementation/Impact) this afternoon. Dr. Edward Harvey, Co-Director of the JTN Wong Lab for Bone Engineering, Professor of Surgery, McGill University, and Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma at the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC), was the visiting professor this year.
Dr. Harvey’s lecture, “Is there a future in orthopaedic research?” touched on the challenges of finding funding for orthopaedic research, particularly for the development of medical technology. He highlighted that innovation and entrepreneurship are skills that researchers must cultivate. He also underscored the importance of partnerships, and finding new methods to conduct research.
The Meek Visiting Professorship recognizes the contributions of past division head of Orthopaedic Trauma, Dr. Robert Meek. Each year, the division hosts a visiting North American professor, renowned in the field, to lecture and meet with students and faculty.
