Toni Tang is a research assistant investigating mechanisms of bone and hip fracture under the supervision of Dr. Rizhi Wang. Previously, she has also been involved with projects assessing shear deformation and fractures of the human cortical bone. With this work, Toni has utilized equipment such as the IsoMet 4000 Precision Saw and the EcoMet 250 Grinder/Polisher among many others.
Her research interests involved assessing failure mechanisms of hip fracture from the materials perspective. Specifically, Toni aims to determine how a bone’s microstructural changes contribute to hip fragility by examining hip fracture mechanisms at the level of the individual bone lamellae.
